Hi and welcome to my web site.
I live and work in the southwest of Western Australia. Since 2004, I have lectured at Edith Cowan University's southwest campus located in Bunbury.
My wife and I, and our three eldest children, came out to Australia in 1988. We lived for a while in the eastern states but now live in Western Australia.
I worked for many years in industry including as an engineer with the British Broadcasting Corporation in London. I designed the electrical system for the 2 x 108 Tonne overhead travelling crane system at Stanwell power station in Queensland, the largest built in Australia, and the electrical control system for a rail-flaw detection vehicle for export to Japan - the first contract of its kind, at that time.
As an educator, I have worked in primary, high and senior high schools, in both rural and metro locations. I have worked in district office and at various times been a head of department and a deputy principal.
Like many people, I'm a little addicted to the media. I love to read, my five favourite books are: The Brothers Karamazov (Fyodor Dostoyevsky); Awareness (Anthony De Mello); Illusions (Richard Bach); The Tao of Physics (Fritjof Capra), and...I love music, my five favourite albums are: A new beginning (Tracy Chapman); Waiting for a miracle (Bruce Cockburn); The Ragpicker's dream (Mark Knopfler); Our Favourite Shop (The Style Council); Modern Classics (Paul Weller)... I love movies. Favourite ones: toooooo many to list
At one school I taught music (Rock/Blues/pop/country) while the music teacher was away. A year later, he asked if I had a song to contribute to a cd of originals written by the students. I had orginally written this a couple of years earlier. It's called Republic (1.8MB) and it gives my perspective on Australia's ongoing debate.
